A new hybrid approach for determining sector-specific risk factors in Turkish Straits: Fuzzy AHP-PRAT technique

In this study, a hybrid approach that combines the Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (FAHP) and Proportional Risk Assessment Technique (PRAT) methods was developed for use within scope of risk analysis. Using assessment enables researchers to overcome disadvantages limitations single method. The proposed in study provides an opportunity eliminate misconceptions may arise from subjective judgments based only on expert opinions inconsistencies occur insufficient data. With approach, realistic analysis results were obtained by combining statistical Turkish Straits System chosen as case application area. One most important is ships passing through face different risks each Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) sector. proved method could effectively be used consistent accurate tool. can contribute safe strait passages defining sector-specific encounter.
